What Nordic lighting actually means
It is a response to the dark. In Scandinavia the winter gives you a few hours of grey daylight, so interior lighting there is not about brightness — it is about putting several small, warm, low pools of light around a room instead of one bright source overhead. That is why a Nordic home usually has more fixtures than you would expect and fewer of them on the ceiling.
How to light a room the Nordic way
Aim for three light sources per room at three different heights: something overhead or at ceiling level, something at eye level on a wall, and something low — a table lamp or floor lamp. Put them on separate switches or dimmers so you can take the room from working-bright to evening-low. Use 2700K bulbs or warmer throughout; mixing colour temperatures in one room is the single most common mistake.
