Candle Warmer Lamps

A candle warmer lamp gives you the scent of a candle without lighting it. A warm bulb in the lamp sits above an ordinary jar candle and melts the wax from the top down, which releases the fragrance into the room. There is no flame, no smoke and no soot on the jar, and the candle lasts longer because the wax is not burned away.

How a candle warmer lamp works

Put a jar candle on the base, under the shade, and switch the lamp on. The heat from the bulb softens the top layer of wax, and the fragrance spreads as it melts. Switch the lamp off and the wax sets again, ready for next time. Because nothing is burning, you can use one in rooms where an open flame is a worry.

Choosing the right candle

Use a candle in a jar, with a wide, flat top so the light covers the whole surface. Check that the jar fits under the shade with a little room to spare. Soy and coconut wax candles melt easily and give off plenty of scent at low heat.

Using one safely

Treat it like any lamp that gets warm: keep it away from curtains and paper, out of reach of small children and pets, and switch it off when you leave the house. Only use the replacement bulb the product page recommends.
